Heart-Supported Mind

Twilight is the inky blue-black, steely-cool

Lens of the logical mind

The rational left-hemisphere that’s always asking: Who?

What? Where? When? And Why?

Generally over focusing 24-7 upon all the little things one should have said,

Or could have done

Inner-narratives on constant rewind sometimes for years, decades or even lifetimes,

Retrospective key frames in ones timeline robbed of fun

Completely oblivious and unaware, that one was born with a Right-hemisphere

Offering an additional lens of self-compassion, via heart-supported mind

Like a prism of decision-making processes that are mutually beneficent and kind

Via a hemispherical union, of left and right, both online at the same time

Co-operating as a ‘Whole Mind’

Balancing the polarity of individuation via an authentic heart connection;

To each other, the natural world, the cosmos, and ‘The All There Is’

As a direct extension of Source-Energy, each of us, a little piece of Primordial Qi

A metaphysical integration, providing meaning, purpose and inner-peace

Awakening ones third eye, that can scry a previously unknown spectrum, discover a parallel dimension

Refracting the piercing white light of inner-sight

The other side of the rainbow crescent moon

Artist’s Statement / Vision

I am an artist and a poet. My practice is about sharing personal truth, insight and revelation about the human experience inspired by life.

I attempt to do this through the written and spoken word, events and installation, multi-media, mixed media, and technology.

My objective is to extend an invitation to commit to the communication of wellbeing, self-love, inner-peace and connectivity, so that in the face of surmounting state austerity and corporate greed, where the quarterly profit margin is prioritised over and above family, community, human dignity and environmental sustainability, one can offer a healthy comparison.

This can be achieved by engaging in right-brain activities that reconnects an individual with a sense of innocence and play in order to rediscover and form new neurological pathways in the brain.

In this way, according to brain scientist: Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor; one can choose to ‘step to the right of one’s left hemisphere’ at any given moment in time, in order to run the ‘deep inner-peace circuitry’ that is characteristic of the right hemisphere of the brain.

In the words of Thích Nhất Hạnh: ‘Peace is every step’ however, in order to walk a path of ‘mindfulness’ (ie: left and right hemispheres working together) one must keep challenging one’s concepts of self-identity (left hemisphere) within the context of the larger scheme of things (right hemisphere), to move beyond old limiting programming and divisive stereotypical-labels such as gender, age, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, salary, postcode, elitism, etc. to redefine the boundaries of ones inherited cultural and social roles.

This constitutes a hemispherical union that initiates self-love and facilitates it’s outer expression as compassion and humility.

This is the true sense of the co-joining, dovetailing union between Yin and Yang. For Yin and Yang is not something out there, these qualities exist within ones own cranium. It is the perpetual dance of duality and polarity within the self and within each other. Love is unity. Fear is the division of unity.

In order for humanity to evolve humanity must learn to engage and apply both sides of the brain equally. Not one to the exclusion of the other, but both, to integrate the perspective of the ‘I’ and the ‘I am’ as part of the ‘Whole’, the ‘We are’, and the: we are all here now and in this together.

This is also the reason for why humanity appears not to have evolved beyond the multiplicity of the ego, and appears to be making exactly the same mistakes related to power, greed, control, self-importance, conflict and war etc., as it was thousands of years ago, because humanity’s decision making process is still dominated by the same left-brained ego-mind that operates solely from a place of self-interest and instant, short-term gratification, without engaging the vision for a long-term communal best interest that is characteristic of the right-brain.

As soon as we choose to come online to embrace and integrate the sensory nature of the right hemisphere of the brain, to support and balance our left-brain thought processes, humankind will make monumental leaps and bounds forwards, discovering and developing a plethora of new, exciting and inspirational ways to cement a deeper sense of communal responsibility, committed to finding ecologically sustainable growth solutions whilst healing old grievances easily and effortlessly.

Author and spiritual teacher, Marianne Williamson says that: “Righteousness means ‘right use’ of the mind and the only right use of the mind is love”.

And so I propose that this is how one can begin making heart-supported choices, by engaging our right hemispheres of our brains, (the sensory, feeling, center that connects the heart, tempers the ego and is committed to communicating peace) to balance and support our logical, rational, thinking left-brain, (the ego-mind that offers the incessant internal dialogue that can often border upon the tyrannical) creating an inner-outer union, rather than tension.

This union between the hemispheres is the process of becoming fully conscious, where the ‘Off’ becomes an ‘On’ and where the ‘Zero’ becomes a ‘One’. This is also how consciousness can spread like a wildfire virus, where whole countries can become united over night, just like switching on an electric light. Align Right.

Faith

faith

Belief is a choice

For without belief one doesn’t actually have anything

Because despite all the technological advances in life

There is still no proof

That anything actually happens after death

Or that people even have souls

Or that souls will reconnect at a later point in time

Or that there even is some place else to go

And so no one will ever really know, for sure

For there will never be any definitive proof

Until one can find out for oneself

Which when that day arrives

Can only ever be a uniquely personal experience

That cannot be shared or verified

In the mortal world

Therefore so far as any guarantee of an afterlife is concerned

Is merely pure conjecture

And so faith has become the cushion

That offers emotional comfort and protection

From fear of the unknown

From abandonment and being alone

From insecurity, uncertainty, vulnerability, despair

And the finality, associated with the death process

But faith in illusions can actually serve as resistance

As tactics of avoidance

From dealing with emotional pain

Actually causes more resistance

Which in turn causes even more pain

Caught in a ‘Catch 22’ cycle of denial and inhibition

By refusing to engage in ones emotional evolution

Somehow a person can become

Trapped in a time loop where the years seem to slip slide by effortlessly without noticing

For life’s inner pearls of wisdom

Are often borne from the sand storms of adversity

Where precious insight

Is gleaned from first hand experience and hind sight

To which there is no short cut, remedy or magic pill

And so in order to soften a granite heart hardened by disappointment

And make an unquiet mind be still

One must embrace the present moment in full

Embody the Here and Now

As it is, with no strings or conditions

Breaking rigid cycles of resistance in the mind

That keeps a person stuck in destructive patterns

On constant rewind

For ultimately one has very little to no sway in life’s grand design

And so surrendering to the process of flow

In spite of life’s trials and tribulations

Is how one is able to regain control

Over those fears and tears, more able to let go

Actually fast tracks a troubled heart to less turbulent times

Where peace of mind reigns supreme

As one gets better at reading the signs

And therefore more able to stay ‘in the know’

Frequently updating old illusions as new information becomes available

Allows ones true nature, or purpose to unfold

Without restrictive beliefs holding one back

Or maintaining their strangle hold

Memory Lane

memory-lane

Tell me the good stuff, share the good times

Like filling a crystal goblet with a very fine wine

Salute, just keep the good ones alive

Forgive the rest and let them go

A weed-free garden of memories, handpicked just so

Where new seeds for new dreams may take root

Burst forth, blossom and flower, bear delicious fruit

Grow into majestic, hundred year-old oaks

Sweet memory lane’s very own tree-lined grove of hope

Where one may take a little trip from time to time

A place so sublime that the sun always shines

No choice but return to the Now with a contented smile

Ready, primed and revived

To refill and raise that crystal goblet with plenty more good times

And happy whiles
