‘iVend’ was about the normalisation of art and the accessibility of ideas, in this case poems containing ideas about social unity, environmental awareness, spiritual enlightenment and emotional evolution, which in my view should be as easily and effortlessly available as being able to buy a bar of chocolate, a packet of crisps or a can of coke for example. By replacing commercial snacks and beverages with a range of audio visual media, such as a spoken word CD, a visual poetry DVD, a paperback volume of poetry and individually wrapped poems in handmade envelopes made from recycled cotton rag, sealed with sealing wax, the vending experience is able to provide intellectual ‘food’ and spiritual eye-candy, in the form of inspirational ideas for the mind, and a visual ‘feast’ for the eye, thus defying the traditional museological experience where the art stays on the walls, for here the vending-machine becomes its own self-contained gallery, independent of an exhibition space, where the act of buying the art and the poetry becomes part of the piece itself.

‘CCTV’ was part of a site-specific art project in the form of an alternative audio guide on the subject of ‘Surveillance’ that lasted for one rotation of the Wheel. Commissioned by the MA Art and Politics programme at Goldsmiths, University of London, in association with EDF Energy.
